While “Indiana Jones 5” now has a new date locked in, Jonathan Kasdan, son of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” writer Lawrence Kasdan, was brought on by Lucasfilm to write a new draft of the script. I’m sorry, man.” Check out the video below.ĭisney previously announced that the fifth installment of the “Indiana Jones” franchise will be released on July 9, 2021, four days before star Harrison Ford’s 79th birthday.Īlso Read: 'Indiana Jones 5' Bumped Back a Year to Summer 2021 Release It’s easy.”Īlthough Chris Pratt has been mentioned as a possible replacement, Ford mixed up his Chrises and added, “This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this. “Nobody! Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones,” said Ford. While Ford was promoting “The Secret Life of Pets 2” on NBC’s “Today” on Friday morning, Craig Melvin asked the actor who should play the swashbuckling archaeologist once he is done with the role. I would love to see them expand these treasure hunting stories or bring some of the Indiana Jones books to the mainstream via tv or film. Can you imagine an actor other than Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones? Well, Harrison Ford isn’t having it. I think the people who made Cobra Kai did a great job on their series of bringing back characters in a way that felt it made sense, rather than being shoehorned in. We were just discussing about a Short Round show would be absolutely amazing and I would be happy to see other characters too. I saw the recent Ghostbusters film and whilst it wasn’t amazing, there’s no reason why there can’t be an ‘Indiana Jones’-verse where we have some cameos from Harrison Ford and someone else takes up the Hat or even some adjacent shows. I also think Pedro Pascal would work as he also has that same level of charisma, but I don’t think we should be changing a well established or famous character’s race or nationality or gender. Nathan Fillion would be closest for me for a more middle aged Indiana Jones. I don’t feel like any actors nowadays can do all of this as well as Harrison Ford.īUT… if I was the casting director and I absolutely had to pick, I’d go with Alden Ehrenreic for young Indy, This isn’t Batman for example, where you can bring in various actors as the character, because he has been written differently since his creation - like Batman the detective, Batman the psychopath, Batman the cosmic superhero, there’s many different versions they can play around with, but this is not the case with Indiana Jones. Ryan Gosling absolutely doesn’t fit, but then I don’t think any of the actors we see nowaday would work in the role. Indy is fallible, can be an asshole, he is both lucky and unlucky and whoever plays him needs to bring a level of believability to the role. He doesn’t always do the heroic thing, he’s a smart ass, a reluctant hero and someone who gets beaten up and slapped and finds himself in perilous situations all the time, but still manages to come through the adventure in one piece.įor those reasons, Indiana Jones as a character need as actor who can blend intelligence with charisma with sarcasm, wisecracking and good comedic timing. He thinks on his feet and is quick in tricky situations but also has debilitating fears too. Indy isn’t a stereotypical hero - he’s flawed and makes bad decisions. Coming from someone who likes Ryan Gosling as an actor, he absolutely doesn’t have anywhere near the amount of charisma that Harrison Ford has.
